Do you still use a loopback interface with a global address?

If the WAN interface has acquired a global address, then a loopback
interface is not needed with a global address to source WAN packets.
However, the Loopback interface has other uses.

But can't these uses be accommodated through the address of a LAN interface?

If ISPs end up skimping on address space, using up a /64 for a loopback interface would be highly undesirable.

If the LAN interface isn't fully functional, it could still be ok to present ISPs with the tradeoff to either forego the functions provided by the always reachable address, or require them to provide a WAN address.
