if that's your argument, why shouldn't every DHCP option be possible to encode in an ND message?

I believe DNS is _that_ special!  :-)

in all the various IPv6-only adventures in which I've participated (Internet2 Joint Techs, NANOG and ARIN), auto-conf works great but the network usefulness is rather limited without a DNS server. /Lea
