In our hosting environment, RAs work perfectly fine.  Every customer
has their own L3 network segment, and if they want to do autoconfiguration,
they can - and if they want to do static configuration, they can do as
well.  If the customer network has multiple L3 segments (with largish
customers not unusual), the devices in between are configured manually
anyway.

Rephrasing your sentence to "there are hosting setups where RA-based
autoconfiguration won't help anything due to the complexity, so static configuration is required" would be something I could agree to, though.

You are correct, I shouldn't have stated that in absolute terms.
