Current MIB node names are unintelligible and ambiguous (which makes
sense, since they are for machines to understand and parse not humans
to make use of aside from specifying references to them). I'd like to
see a new (possibly optional) token be added to the SMI language that
would allow a more humanly understandable label to be specified in the
SMI. The sysUpTime definition might include a LABEL tag of "system
uptime" or sysContact might just be "Contact". More importantly
something like ipNetToMediaPhysAddress might be "hardware address".
These LABELs could then be used by tools to help automate the creation
of better looking output without requiring hard-coded knowledge of a
particular MIB.
