In my day job I often see a use case for SLAAC and I also see if used, not having the DNS option is often an issue.
Having real users on a real network I can confirm this is the case. In general my residentials don't even check, they hook up their machine and browse to ipv6.google.com to test wether it works, they don't look or care how things are done so in general just keep using the IPv4 nameservers.
I agree SLAAC should offer the basics to operate and DNS is one of those items you can't do without.
