RE: SImple Security for small CPE devices
Merike,
I would not confuse the shutdown of OPSEC with operations security work
stoppage. WGs have a life cycle and when it's time, it's time....
If you have an idea or a reason to generate an ID, go for it. The OPSEC mail
list will be open for a while as we navigate the submission process, so you
could use this as a place to discuss an ID if nowhere else suffices. And
every good idea needs an RFC, either via a WG or as an individual
submission. :)
As an example, I have a document that was in the INCH WG at its closure. I
renamed the ID, submitted it, and it is winging its way to stardom (RFC)
through the individual submission process. (My document and the WG closure
were not related, I was just tardy.)
So if someone -- anyone -- thinks that other OPSEC-related documents would
be beneficial, start the writing! Particularly the profiles. George and I
had done a draft of a "how to write a profile" and it may still come out;
there could be other docs.... I would even expect that WG participants
would be willing to review, critique, complain, etc almost anything that is
written off-list if you send it to them.
Pat

It is unfortunate that this wg is closing down since I definitely had hoped
that more comprehensive security device profiles would be defined.....it is
unclear where such work would fit now although perhaps in the OPSAREA wg as
Ron mentioned. But authors are needed and that was the issue with this
working group. People were ready enough to comment but not write
documents......
