Not a very lofty goal, IMHO.

First of all, SNMP and CMIP failed completely at the task
of network equipment configuration.

So, yes, our trivial goal is merely to standardize the configuration
of NE devices.  Since this has yet to be accomplished by
any standards body, maybe it isn't so easy.

When we learn how to boil a lake, we will move on
to larger bodies of water.  :-)
