For what it is worth, NETCONF is not the first wg nor will be the last to have this concern regarding XPATH. If the participants have done their homework and find a reasonable and workable alternative, then I see nothing wrong with using it. Yes, XPATH would be preferable, but the world is not a perfect place.


Perhaps this issue should be brought to the attention of the IAB so that guidance can be formulated for the next working group that must tackle this problem.
