Eliot, I'd say:
  If a vendor speaks for many of his customers, we would assume
  that the vendor can at least motivate a few of them to send
  supportive and explanatory text as to why such customers think
  the vendor solution makes sense, is needed, scales, and will 
  be used when delivered.
