Sure, especially the absolutely bad numbers show some serious
implementation problems. But still, the implementations tested are
well known and probably more widely used than one would think. And
even the ones that perform good are a magnitude slower than similar
Corba or Java RMI implementations.
Note, I would love to read other papers that have better numbers.
Please help me to find them.

Can you please be more specific? There are for sure lots of links. But
which one has concrete measurements?
