Maximum Row Size?

I've never been much of a bit counter, but I'm currently looking at a MIB
that, depending on how it is designed, could end up with fairly big rows. I
know I've seen people calculating this sort of thing in the past. Couple
questions:

1. Is this something we should still worry about?

2. If so, what's the upper limit one should aim for size of a table row?
