I was probably too harsh. :-) Yes, we all (?) agree that any solution will
be a compromise based on different factors such as the ones you mention:

> 1. Cost vs. benefits (including time to market, etc.)
> 2. The fact that many people want to do it a particular way.
> 3. Our sense that a particular solution is more elegant or nice.
> 4. Special interest groups.
> 5. The structure of the IETF decision-making process that mandates

6. The current use of current protocol.
7. The strictness of current protocol.
