I guess by asking for simple votes instead of diatribes, we don't know
all the reasons. Presumably everyone has a reason to have voted the way
they did.
We know that one reason that (some) voted against (1) was to protect
pre-standard implementations, which is not a valid basis for making
standards decisions. It would be good to know if there are other
reasons.
I look forward to getting this resolved in Minneapolis.
