Provider independence.
This independence would be as easily served by changing the v6 prefix and keeping the /64 addresses the same. This kind of renumbering has been built into v6. While keeping the old thinking of NAT kills the end-to-end concept of v6 and hurts many applications that needed work arounds in v4 in order to work. We killed v6NAT once, let's not resurrect it again.
