Re: [idn] i-DNS.net Patent Filing

The personal attacks on James Seng are unwarranted.
His participation in the group has not been to advocate any
particular approach; he has been remarkably even-handed in
trying to get the details of each approach elucidated and in
trying to keep the WG moving forward.

If the IETF refused to let folks involved in developing
a technology act as (co-)chairs, MANY of the current co-chairs
in MANY WGs would be disqualified and the IETF would NOT be
able to find enough (co-)chairs to lead the current set of WGs.
IETF has enough challenges trying to scale as the organisation
grows, we don't need to invent new difficulties for ourselves.

Now, if particular individuals in the WG have specific
issues with how any of the chairs have acted, the correct IETF
process is to raise that issue with the applicable Area Director(s)
of the IESG for the IDN WG. Flames and personal attacks
on the WG list are NOT an appropriate behaviour and are NOT
the correct IETF process to raise issues with the chair(s)
and get those issues resolved.

	All in my humble opinion.

Yours,
