Hi all,
I am pretty new at this list and I have a couple of
questions concerning COPS-PR:
1) What I understand from reading the "Framework
PIB" and the postings in this list, is that
different request states can be
used to create multiple copies of the PIB and switch quickly
between them. Is there a way to
do a similar thing with parts of the PIB (instead of the whole
PIB)? For example, can I choose
a branch of the tree and have multiple instances of this
branch, with only one active? I
suppose that the answer is no...
2) COPS-PR describes how to add or deprecate PRCs.
SPPI also defines such operations.
I understand that PIBs are
defined in Internet-Drafts or vendor specifications, and the
previous
attempt to address the problem
of the evolution of the PIBs. PIBs are not supposed to be
defined (or altered) by network
managers in order to adapt to their network needs, is that right?
3) Are there any implementations of any real PDPs
(free or not)? Can I find somewhere any discussion
about implementation issues of PDPs? I
am not only talking about COPS/COPS-PR issues, I am
interested in other issues, as well,
such as how high-level policies are stored in the PDPs, how are
conflicts detected and solved,
how policies are distributed to the appropriate PDPs (if more than one is
used)
etc.
I hope these questions are not too
naive.
Thank you very much for your time,
Andreas
