Subject: Question about COPS PR
Hi,
I have three question as follows:
1.SSQ/SSC
When synchronization is complete, the PEP MUST issue a
synchronize state complete message to the PDP.If the SSQ have a client
handle object, but PEP has performed the synchronization and issues a SSC
with wrong client handle. What PDP will do? reissue the SSQ or send other
message?
I would say that it would wait the timeout period for an SSC with the correct handle and then timeout the connection.
2.DRQ/RPT
Some messages, such as DRQ and RPT, need not be responsed. But how the PEP
knows if they are received by the PDP? And if there are wrong information in
them ,what PDP will do ?
The only way that the PEP would know that the messages are not received are if the PDP sends a CC to do message timeout. I would suspect that the PDP could send a DEC error to notify the PEP of a malformed message.
3.RPT
"Reports can also be unsolicited and all unsolicited Reports MUST
NOT set the solicited message flag in their COPS message header.
Examples of unsolicited reports include 'Accounting' Report-Types,
which were not triggered by a specific DEC messages, or 'Failure'
Report-Types, which indicate a failure in a previously
successfully installed configuration . " ---in the COPS PR
Whether I can consider from "previously "that there are at least one RPT
corresponding to every DEC. Then, how I distinguish one corresponding to a
specified DEC from others? if PDP receives a RPT without Client-SI,What it
will do? ignore or delete ?
There is only one RPT per DEC. The PDP will send another DEC, when and only when, it has already received a RPT for the first DEC. If the PDP receives a RPT without Client-SI then this probably should be a RPT Success; however, it could be a RPT Failure. In the case of RPT Failure without Client-SI I would think that the PDP would assume that the DEC was not processed and resend the DEC, if necessary.
Thanks!
