all,
Since discussions about CIM/SID etc have taken place in IETF
in the past, and since these guys claim
"to federate the data model integrations among various
industry groups and SDOs such as ITU-T, ETSI/TISPAN,
ATIS, IETF, etc."
and includes ITEF in that list, I figured I would forward this.
I find it playing with words. Instead of unification, harmonzation,
and such, they now call it "federation".
For me it is all the same and boils down to: spaghetti bowl.

------------ from TMF newsletter dated Jun 7th 2006:
Call for Participation: Standardizing the mTOP-SID Mapping
The Multi-Technology OSS Program (mTOP) defines OS to OS interfaces via the Multi-Technology Operations Systems Interface (MTOSI) product as well as NML-EML interfaces via the Multi-Technology Network Management (MTNM) product.
The TMF has recently successfully positioned the TMF Shared Information and Data Model (SID) as the starting point for an overall Information Architecture required to federate the data model integrations among various industry groups and SDOs such as ITU-T, ETSI/TISPAN, ATIS, IETF, etc.
Standardizing the mapping from the data transferred across the mTOP interfaces into the SID is critical to ensuring efficient integration of equipment and applications with mTOP interfaces into a Service Provider's total business systems.
BT and AT&T are looking for volunteers to start a new technical team to investigate, develop and standardize this mapping.
This new technical team will work closely with the mTOP and SID teams, and participation of core experts from these teams is welcome and considered critical for success.
The inaugural meeting of this new team will be on Monday, June 12 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern U.S. Time (New York) / 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. U.K. Time.
Bridge Number: +1-866-325-0587 or +1-205-354-0145 Pin: *5090435* (At which time we will arrange a standard weekly meeting time).
If you are interested in working on this team, please contact Nigel Davis or Stephen Gaito.
