I am saying:
X) I fail to see the benefit of having HTTP (or some other application
layer protocol) between SOAP and a (secure) transport and thus I do
not really care whether 1), 2), 3) or 4) are significant problems.
I suspect that some of the performance problems are indeed caused by
the way the SOAP implementations are hooked into HTTP implementations.
But I am just guessing here since I did not do my own measurements.
