Yes, I think that in order to realize the goals that have been stated, a DTD is not sufficient. There is a world of difference between an XSD and a DTD. With respect to this effort, all a DTD does is enable one to declare constraints governing the use of markup. If you actually want to do something interesting, you need much more rigorous tools. An XSD enables you to (for example) specify how the component parts of an application fit together, simple and complex types, attributes, and much more.

I suppose this is one of the things we'd have to nail down.
Would a schema specified using a DTD somehow be inadequate
for the purposes of this work?
