Here are some issues I think we need to explore from a configuration
standpoint:
1. Are we talking WSDL/SOAP/XML or something a bit less layered? A lot
of the tools do SOAP/XML.
2. What's the security model? A little SSL with client-side
certificates? SASL/TLS? How does that map to what people are doing
today, which is Radius or TACACS+? How does it relate to USM?
3. What precisely *is* the access method? Is it HTTP? Is it BEEP? Is
it both? Neither? HTTP has the nice property that any old browser will
do the job. BEEP has the nice property that it's not HTTP ;-) and can
be used in a P2P way. Shades of IPP and IMS arguments come to mind.
Just some off-the-beat thoughts...
