Re: Is there an SNMP MIB object which provides system's fully-qualified domain name (besides sysName)
Hi Kristine,
I don't know of a MIB object that contains this, so I hope someone else does...
One thing to keep in mind, though, is that there are many systems
that don't actually know their own fully qualified domain name.

Hello,
We would like to support an SNMP MIB object that provides a
system's fully-qualified domain name. We already support sysName,
but we have heard that some customers set this MIB object to their
own values for use in identifying a system. We have also heard that
there is discussion of allowing DBCS values for domain names so
sysName would not be able to support those values. I have checked
the HOST-RESOURCES-MIB (RFC2790) but it doesn't define the name of
the host. Does anyone know of a MIB module that defines a system's
fully-qualified domain name? Thanks!
