Let me first say a THANK YOU to Mike Heard. The MIB doctor/reviewers team is working on a document that guides us in reviwing MIB related documents. The idea here is twofold: - Try to come to a consistent review of different MIB documents, even if done by different MIB doctors. Of course there are always personal flavors and subsjective comments... but with such a document, we should at least not bother people with inconsistent comments on various MIB and SMIv2 aspects. - Serve as a guideline for MIB document editors/authors and WG chairs when developing such MIB documents. Taking into account these guidelines, the review process may go much faster and so your document can get approved faster as a result. Hopefully this helps us with the process of MIB reviews. This is an initial version, so we are not 100% in sync yet, and various IETF people may have their own opinions on it as well. So if you (or your WG members) have any comments, feel free to send them to me, or send them to mibs@ops.ietf.org, where all the MIB doctors/reviewers can read it. Thanks, Bert Wijnen co-AD for the OPS area, specifically Network Management -----Original Message----- From: Internet-Drafts@ietf.org [mailto:Internet-Drafts@ietf.org] Sent: donderdag 6 februari 2003 15:30 Subject: I-D ACTION:draft-ietf-ops-mib-review-guidelines-00.txt A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories. This draft is a work item of the Operations & Management Open Area Working Group of the IETF. Title : Guidelines for MIB Authors and Reviewers Author(s) : C. Heard Filename : draft-ietf-ops-mib-review-guidelines-00.txt Pages : 39 Date : 2003-2-5 This memo provides guidelines for authors and reviewers of IETF specifications containing MIB modules. A URL for this Internet-Draft is: http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-ops-mib-review-guidelines-00.txt To remove yourself from the IETF Announcement list, send a message to ietf-announce-request with the word unsubscribe in the body of the message. Internet-Drafts are also available by anonymous FTP. Login with the username "anonymous" and a password of your e-mail address. After logging in, type "cd internet-drafts" and then "get draft-ietf-ops-mib-review-guidelines-00.txt". A list of Internet-Drafts directories can be found in http://www.ietf.org/shadow.html or ftp://ftp.ietf.org/ietf/1shadow-sites.txt Internet-Drafts can also be obtained by e-mail. Send a message to: mailserv@ietf.org. In the body type: "FILE /internet-drafts/draft-ietf-ops-mib-review-guidelines-00.txt". NOTE: The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE" command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with "multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on how to manipulate these messages. Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the Internet-Draft.
