Yes, indeed, and we need to do something about that.

The Hubmib WG recently asked that RFC 1643 be reclassified as Historic
in order to discourage continued implementation of the out-of-date full
standard version of the EtherLike-MIB published in that document.  We
can't very well ask for RFC 1213 to be reclassified as Historic because
there still exist a large number of normative references to it, but we
probably should publish a document stating that it is "Not Recommended" 
for new implementations (as was done for SMIv1) and telling implementors
where to find the up-to-date stuff.
