gsmp draft-ietf-gsmp-applicability-01

SUMMARY

  This memo provides an overview of the GSMP protocol and includes 
  information relating to its deployment in a MPLS environment. 

  The draft has been through both WG last call and and IESG last call
  and is currently in the IESG queue.  This is an an informational
track.

WHERE DOES IT FIT IN THE PICTURE OF THE SUB-IP WORK

  GSMP is a protocol used to control an underlying fabric.  It
  therefore could be seen as fitting into the bottom layer of the
  hourglass.  It is, however, a different sort of item then the other
  items listed in that plane, and if the hourglass were 3 dimensional
  could be viewed as deriving from CCAMP into a management plane.

WHY IS IT TARGETED AT THIS WG

  The GSMP protocol is being defined within the GSMP working group.

JUSTIFICATION

  The GSMP group has been chartered to work on the GSMP.  This document
  explains how it can be deployed in an MPLS environment.
