	NAME of I-D:

http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ylee-protection-occ-00.txt

	SUMMARY:

This paper provides a new protection scheme in the context of
optical
channel concatenation (OCC). The need and requirements for
optical
channel concatenation is addressed in a separate IETF draft,
	draft-damle-optical-channel-concatenation-00.txt,which has been
	submitted concurrently.

This contribution is presented herein for information only.

WHERE DOES IT FIT IN THE PICTURE OF THE SUB-IP WORK
	IPO WG

WHY IS IT TARGETED AT THIS WG
One of the WG charter includes:
     - Document the applicability of IP-based protocols for the
controlled dissemination of optical network topology, metric, and
constraint information. Such information can be used for inventory
management, path selection, and other purposes. The information to be
exchanged should accommodate both all-optical and
optical-electrical-optical switching technologies
We believe that our document fits nicely to the charter of the WG
mentioned above. Our document contains the use of bitmap mechanism as a
way to convey optical channel status and MPLS or GMPLS controls can make
use of these bitmaps for its protection schemes.

     JUSTIFICATION
This document is justified for the IPO since it address protection
scheme for optical channel concatenation.
