I'm happy to hear suggestions and comments but I want to nip this "vote" in
the bud.  It is sometimes useful to take a hum to get a measure of consensus
in face-to-face meetings (that's one of the ways that meetings are useful)
but the same activity via email is rarely helpful or conclusive.
