Communication from OIF on MEF UNI
Hi,
We have received a very constructive communication from the OIF wrt our work
on the MEF UNI. You can see it at www.olddog.co.uk/ccamp.htm
Can I encourage the authors of the various MEF-related I-Ds to follow up on
the actions agreed in Chicago.
Cheers,
Adrian

Subject: Liaison to IETF CCAMP WG on MEF services support
Dear Adrian and Deborah,
The OIF has been engaged in discussion with the MEF since
April 2005 regarding MEF UNI service definitions and how
these might be supported over a UNI control plane
interface. During this discussion a number of mutual
conclusions have been reached on the requirements for
signaling MEF UNI parameters using the control plane, and
the relationship of control plane and management plane
interfaces at the MEF UNI.
Some of the control plane protocol issues that were
identified have been socialized with IETF CCAMP WG through
liaisons and informal communications between participants
in OIF and CCAMP, and have resulted in work discussed in
CCAMP. OIF plans to make use of this work in its future
documents; in particular, the MEF Ethernet Traffic
Parameters and EVPL label formats and switching type
(provided in draft-ietf-ccamp-ethernet-traffic-parameters-
02.txt and draft-berger-ccamp-gmpls-mef-uni-00.txt,
respectively). While we recognize that the second draft
identified has not yet been formally adopted as a Working
Group draft, definition of the EVPL label formats and
switching type defined in the draft meet needs that we have
identified for support of MEF services in the control
plane.
We appreciate CCAMP's efforts in this area and hope to
continue productive interaction in the future.
Thank you.
Sincerely yours,
Jim Jones
