About The Vancouver Institute

The Vancouver Institute, an all-volunteer organization, has been in operation since 1916 to bring university and community together. Addresses and discussions have always been without entry charge so that financial considerations would not limit attendance. Speakers contribute their knowledge without fee and the costs of bringing out-of-town authorities to Vancouver are met by voluntary subscriptions and welcome donations from public-minded citizens.

You are invited to assist the Institute and support this program by becoming a member of the Institute on an annual basis. Membership fees and donations are tax-deductible. Your official receipt will be forwarded to you. Please bring your membership card to lectures for pre-8:00 p.m. seating.

The Executive of The Vancouver Institute wish to acknowledge the cooperation and assistance they have received from The University of British Columbia and, in particular, UBC Continuing Studies, Public Affairs, and the Visiting Scholars Programs. We are especially grateful to Ted Powell, The Institute's webmaster; Ingrid Perlstrom; Tony Voon; Vince Hart; and David Gold for their invaluable support.

Currently (Fall 2014) in its 99th year, The Institute is undertaking a special capital campaign to help it reach its 100th anniversary. Please consider making an additional donation to this campaign. Contributions through planned giving will also be most graciously accepted. All donations will be acknowledged on our donations panel of the program.
