Professor Walter Kohn Lecture

Professor Walter Kohn
Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, 1998
Department of Physics
University of California (Santa Barbara)

will be addressing the Vancouver Institute on March 18, 2000 at 8:15 p.m. in Lecture Hall No. 2 in the Woodward Instructional Resources Centre, University of British Columbia.

Through a Glass Darkly: A Physicist Looks at the Future

Educated at the University of Toronto and Harvard, Professor Kohn has made seminal contributions to the understanding of the electronic structure of materials. He played the leading role in the development of theory which has revolutionized scientists' approach to the electronic structure of atoms, molecules, and solid materials in physics, chemistry, and materials science. Professor Kohn has also made major contributions to the physics of semiconductors, superconductivity, surface physics, and catalysis.
