Transport Address Mappings draft?
Hi all --
I'm interested in reviving discussion on
draft-ietf-ops-taddress-mib-01.txt.
At the moment, all we have to work with, transport-mapping-wise, is
RFC 1906. I'm looking at at least two central cases where RFC 1906
is insufficient to my needs:
1) SNMP over IPv6. This would require, at the minimum, some sort of
TC for SNMP over UDP over IPv6.
2) The AgentX MIB (RFC 2742). Since AgentX prefers a reliable
transport, using a transport domain of snmpUdpDomain seems a little
disingenuous.
Both of these cases seem to be well-covered in the draft.
There doesn't seem to have been any discussion of this draft since
October of last year, though.
So maybe we can revive the discussion?
I'll try to post some more specific comments on the draft soon, but
maybe this would be a good opportunity for anyone else to comment who
has been struggling with similar issues. It seems like this would be
a good draft to get published so that we have a standard out there for
people to use.
Thanks!
