SUMMARY

This document describes a framework for Internet traffic engineering
measurement, with the objective of providing principles and
requirements for the development of a set of measurement systems to
support the traffic engineering of IP-based networks. A major
goal is to provide guidance for establishing protocol-independent
and platform-independent traffic measurement standards to achieve
   multi-vendor inter-operability.

WHY IS IT TARGETED AT THIS WG

This document was submitted in response to the call for contributions
on the TEM (Traffic Engineering Measurement) category as described
in the tewg charter. As agreed at the IETF'50 meeting of tewg in
March 2001, it was to be merged with the related document listed
   above and an expired document:
   B. Christian, et al, "Operational Measurements for Traffic
   Engineering," July 2000.
The new version -01.txt reflects the merger of the work done in this
   area.
