NAME OF I-D:

MPLS Support of Differentiated Services using E-LSP
  http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ganti-mpls-diffserv-elsp-00.txt

SUMMARY

There are currently two types of LSPs that can be used to support
   Diff-serv over MPLS [DIFF-MPLS]: E-LSPs and L-LSPs. This document
defines extensions relating to the use of E-LSPs in an MPLS network.

The E-LSP approach allows multiple Ordered Aggregates (OAs) to be
carried by a single LSP. The existing E-LSP specification only
supports collective bandwidth signalling for all the OAs in an E-LSP.
However, there exist uses of the E-LSP approach where it is desirable
to support bandwidth signalling on a per-OA or per-PSC basis. This
document extends the original E-LSP approach by defining extensions
to support per-OA signalling. The extensions are proposed for both
   RSVP and CR-LDP

WHERE DOES IT FIT IN THE PICTURE OF THE SUB-IP WORK

It fits right in the box MPLS.

WHY IS IT TARGETED AT THIS WG

The draft is related to current work group item of "MPLS support
of differentiated services" in the standards track. It extends the
much needed functionality in order to support proper E-LSP signaling.
There is no other draft that can be merged with this document.

JUSTIFICATION

As explained in the summary, the draft extends the E-LSP signaling
per-OA. The current work group item "MPLS support of differentiated
services" does not signal per-OA bandwidth requirements. It assumes
resources are allocated on a aggregate basis. This can be difficult
in networks which support both E-LSP and L-LSP together. This work
is also needed for unform tunneling model described in the WG document.
Therefore, it is requested that the proposed draft be considered for
  the WG item.
