I don't agree with the Harald's wording, but I probably agree with the intent.
- I think the need is that we want:
  + current cache servers to not break by receiving idn
  + current cache servers must not need to be upgraded to support idn
  + but, depending on the protocol design and transition scenarios, it is 
perhaps possible that
   = we don't need to change the cache servers to support idn
   = and they don't need to "support idn", but to let idn work ok, without 
breaking anything.
- I would add DNS in front of "cache servers", to make sure that people 
will not think about web caches...)

Specifically, I would change to:

[4] The protocol MUST NOT require that current DNS cache servers be 
modified to enable
IDN working. ...
